Montreal Auto Show is back with lots to dazzle the eyes and hearts of consumers

The Montreal International Auto Show is back for another edition, with the doors open to the public from January 17- 26 at the Palais des congrès de Montréal. Electric vehicles and hybrids continue to offer a strong presence.

The event, presented by iA Financial Group, will see more than 30 brands at the show — including Polestar — which self-describes as an electric performance car brand. And Club Tesla Québec will be present with something to show.

The event’s planning was conducted well in advance of Transport Canada’s recent announcement to pause the federal zero-emission vehicle rebate program, which they had meant to pause at the end of March rather than in January. (The hasty pause is due to high uptake resulting in a depletion of funds for the program.)

Still, the show has always catered to a range of consumers and electric vehicles are not the only vehicle type on the menu. There is also the return of regular brands like Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Ford, Genesis, Hyundai, Nissan, Toyota, Subaru, the Stellantis Group, and many more — and with them, options for gasoline and hybrid.

And vehicles from Luc Poirier’s prestigious personal Ferrari collection will also be on display at the show — another sign that the Montreal International Auto Show continues to offer a range of vehicles for all types of consumers.

Last year the show welcomed 168,447 visitors between Jan. 19-28, 2024, an increase of nearly 14 per cent over 2023. It is yet to be seen if this year’s edition will bring in even more visitors as the show opens today.

In other news, the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada revealed the 12 Best Vehicles in Canada for 2025 on Thursday during a media preview ceremony at MIAS — vehicles that are also competing as finalists for this year’s Canadian Car of the Year Awards.
