Nissan expands access to superchargers for Ariya drivers in Canada

As access to proper electric vehicle charging infrastructure becomes increasingly important, Nissan Canada has announced that drivers of its Ariya model now have access to 17,800 Tesla Superchargers within the Nissan Energy Charge Network (NECN), as of December 10.

The expansion of the network brings the total NECN to 25,000 public chargers in Canada, and more than 100,000 in the United States — highlighting a focus from OEMs to ensure drivers of their electrified models can find public chargers, and charge quickly.

The company said users will need a Nissan-provided North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapter kit2 to use the Tesla Supercharger stations. (The kit costs around CA$310.00 and can be ordered through a Nissan dealer.)

“In addition to the newly added Tesla Supercharger network, NECN also includes access to ChargeHub, Shell Recharge branded network, FLO, Chargepoint, Circuit Electrique, BC Hydro, and the IVY branded network, in Canada,” they said in a news release.

In the United States, charging access includes Electrify America, the Shell Recharge branded network, ChargePoint ,and EVgo networks. OEMs continue to increase access to charging and create apps that help simplify EV ownership.
