With the holiday season gearing up, DesRosiers Automotive Consultants took a moment to consider what sort of vehicle Canadians are “asking Santa” for this year.
The company surveyed 4,500 Canadian drivers to better understand their desires, and found that — if the vehicle was a gift for the holidays — an SUV would be the top choice for 36.9% of respondents. Sedans followed at 24.3%, while pickup trucks appealed to 13.4% of those surveyed. Exotics/sports cars accounted for 12.2% of responses.
As for the powertrain the majority (57.1%) leaned towards ICE vehicles, 28.5% wanted a hybrid (PHEV), and 14.4% wished for an electric vehicle (BEV). On colour, most wanted black (24.9%), while silver/grey was a close second at 24.1% and blue followed at 16.4%.
“A black gas-powered SUV seems to be what most Canadians are hoping for this Christmas,” said Andrew King, Managing Partner at DAC, in a statement. “But rest assured Santa (and your local dealer) can find you an orange minivan if that is what your heart desires.”
