DAC says October sales figures were ‘definitely a treat’

How would you describe October sales figures? According to DesRosiers Automotive Consultants, they were definitely a treat.

October had the benefit of two extra selling days compared to the same month in 2023, along with some strong fleet activity. As a result, DAC estimates that sales came in at a noteworthy 162,000 units — 8.8% above the October 2023 monthly total. That total is nearly equal to the total from October 2019, and it’s 35,000 units above October 2022.

“Strength was fairly broadly seen across the industry with only a couple of the volume players seeing sales declines for the month,” said Andrew King, Managing Partner at DAC, in a statement.

He added that the seasonally adjusted annual rate or SAAR for the month came in at 1.98 million — “behind the pent-up demand explosion that was January and February, but still the third best total we have seen this year.”

With only two more months left before the end of the year, King said the market remains “on track” to hit an annual total of 1.8 million for the first time since 2019.
