The latest updates in the electric vehicle movement show FractalEV, a Canadian Level 2 EV charger manufacturer, and AXSO, a subsidiary of Hydro-Québec, partnering to transform EV charging in multi-unit residential buildings — a move that could help boost EV adoption.
According to Alexandre Bérubé, President and CEO of AXSO, the “exponential” growth in EVs presents opportunities and challenges, particularly in multi-unit buildings. He said the companies have created a solution that “optimizes energy use and simplifies the charging process for residents and building owners.”
The partnership combines FractalEV’s hardware with AXSO’s Eddie platform to help reduce ongoing Software as a service (SaaS) fees by up to 80 per cent. This in turn lowers the cost for building owners, while also improving the drivers’ charging experience, according to FractalEV.
“Our goal with this bundle is to make EV charging as seamless and cost-effective as possible for both building owners and drivers,” said Chris Mendes, CEO of FractalEV, in a statement. “FractalEV chargers are designed to be reliable and easy to manage, and with AXSO’s Eddie platform, we can extend those benefits even further.”
Mendes said the two companies are making it easier for buildings to scale their charging infrastructure and for drivers to access the power they need to charge their vehicles. EV drivers can, for example, reach out for assistance through the Eddie app. And FractalEV’s chargers are equipped with advanced diagnostic tools and offline recovery capabilities.
Building owners can access the essential management features such as revenue management, detailed reporting, and more.
