The Montreal International Auto Show (MIAS) has officially acquired the Montreal Electric Vehicle Show (MEVS) and plans to maintain the distinctiveness of each event in the short- and medium-term.
“When we heard that the MEVS could change hands, we quickly showed interest,” said Denis Dessureault, Executive Vice President of the MIAS, in a statement. “In the mid-2000s, the MIAS was the first event in the country to introduce an electric vehicle zone. It was imperative for our organization to consolidate our leadership role in the greater Montreal area.”
Dessureault added that, for now, their priority is to host an (MEVS) event in 2025 and “propel the brand to new heights with our expertise, while respecting its identity and the customer experience that its visitors are used to.”
The MEVS will now benefit from the MIAS’ team when it comes to organization and logistics. Its next edition will take place at a new location — at Stade IGA in Parc Jarry between May 2-4, 2025, rather than the Montreal Olympic Stadium. The latter hosted the last editions, but cannot do so this time because of construction. The new location is accessible and central, and importantly includes ideal indoor facilities.
“In the coming months, we will ensure a smooth transition between teams to continue positioning the MEVS as a key reference in electric mobility in Québec, thereby ensuring its sustainability,” said Louis Bernard, Co-Founder of the MEVS, in a statement.
