FLO has announced that it will supply 41 of its 100kW SmartDC fast chargers to Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL), with the instalment resulting in the creation of a highway charging corridor in British Columbia.
The fast chargers will be installed at 23 locations across the province, thereby establishing the corridor. Specifically, they will be installed at Co-op retail locations starting this summer and will cover both urban and rural sites once fully deployed.
“Fast chargers are not just dots on the map, they are much-needed opportunities to keep (electric vehicle) drivers on the road,” said Louis Tremblay, FLO president and CEO, in a statement. “FLO’’ project with FCL will expand access to fast, reliable charging throughout British Columbia — particularly in rural cities and towns — as the province moves toward 100 per cent zero-emissions vehicles by 2035.”
The chargers are being provided by FLO to FCL on behalf of local Co-ops in the Co-operative Retailing System. FCL, which is based in Saskatoon, Sask., is considered a diverse business operating in the agriculture, food, energy and home and building sectors.
FLO will also coordinate site construction, installation and maintenance, in addition to the instalment of the chargers. The company also offers software, network operations services and a FLO Performance warranty program. That last one reportedly guarantees that charging ports covered by the warranty “will achieve 98 per cent uptime.”
