FLO’s new home charger includes heat sensors and can withstand corrosive climates

FLO has introduced a next-generation home charger meant to meet the needs of electric vehicle and plug-in hybrid vehicles, from compact crossovers to heavy-duty pickups, the company recently announced.

In a news release, they said its newest FLO Home EV chargers feature a highly robust, impact-resistant enclosure meant to handle both hot and cold temperatures, along with corrosive climates. The chargers also include a 25-foot or 7.62 metre cable that is flexible, easy to manipulate, and is built to withstand daily use.

“In EV driver surveys, we found that EV drivers overwhelmingly want a home charger that is durable and backed by a warranty that protects their investment,” said Louis Tremblay, FLO President and CEO, in a statement.

FLO said its new chargers were built on 15 years of private, public, and commercial charging experience, in addition to feedback from EV drivers regarding their home charging needs — hence the new features. They are available with a choice of a J3400 connector (NACS/Tesla connector) and the J1772 connector, include embedded heat sensors, and come with a limited warranty covering five years of residential use/one year of commercial use.

“We engineered the new generation of FLO Home chargers to help protect these investments and future-proof EV charging whether it’s today’s crossover or tomorrow’s heavy-duty electric pickup truck,” said Nathan Yang, FLO Chief Product Officer, in a statement.

The FLO Home chargers are supported by the company’s app and its extended network which, when drivers are not charging at home, means they can access more than 86,000 public chargers across North America.
