NextStar Energy CEO Danies Lee and other members of the company recently welcomed Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to the new 4.23-million-square-foot electric vehicle battery manufacturing plant site in Windsor, Ont.
The move further highlights the importance of the facility to the province and country overall. Once completed, it will create more than 2,500 jobs in Canada and will have a yearly production capacity of up to 49.5 gigawatt-hours. Its impact on the Canadian automotive sector should not be understated.
“NextStar Energy is a JV formed by Stellantis and LG Energy Solution and will serve as Canada’s first large-scale EV battery manufacturing facility,” said Stellantis in a news release.
During his visit to the NextStar Energy Windsor EV Battery Hub, Trudeau toured the Module Building and received an update about the construction progress. He also observed a demonstration of EV battery module production and quality processes.
