Hyundai Canada among Canada’s Best Diversity Employers for 2024

Hyundai Auto Canada (HAC) has been named among Canada’s Best Diversity Employers for 2024, receiving the recognition from Mediacorp with a mention published in the Globe and Mail.

To receive the recognition, Hyundai Auto Canada was assessed for its initiatives in creating an equitable, diverse and inclusive workplace. In a news release, the OEM said 39 per cent of its team members self-identify as women and 7 per cent self-identify as Black — the latter up 5 per cent from 2021. The organization is also actively seeking Black talent.

“To better serve our diverse customer base while fostering an inclusive organizational culture, we are always re-examining our hiring processes to help ensure our career development policies are equitable,” said Kirk Merrett, Director of Human Resources at Hyundai Canada.

He added that the company’s people-centric approach is at the forefront of all of their decisions. “This recognition from Mediacorp underscores all the hard work and collaborative efforts our leadership team implements to ensure team members across all levels are taken into consideration,” he said.

Training on respect in the workplace, along with unconscious bias, is mandatory and provided to all new hires. The company’s leadership team is also being measured on their demonstration inclusion in leadership.

Furthermore, Hyundai Auto Canada has all-gender restrooms in its office facilities, a worship room, and a room for nursing mothers. And 10 “wellness days” are offered to the company’s team members.

Hyundai Auto Canada has also been recently recognized on the 2024 Best Workplaces for Women list by Great Place to Work for the fifth year.
