FLO activates GM’s Plug and Charge on DC Fast Chargers in Canada

FLO has enabled General Motors’ Plug and Charge capability on its DC Fast Chargers across Canada to improve the charging experience for GM’s electric vehicle drivers, the company recently announced.

As a result all GM EV drivers can access the OEM’s Plug and Charge, which is now activated by FLO’s autocharge software. According to FLO, this feature allows drivers to plug in immediately, rather than open a mobile app or tap a charging card.

“GM’s Plug and Charge enabled by FLO creates a simplified, seamless and consistent charging experience for GM EV drivers,” said Mathew Palmer, Director of EV Ecosystems at GM Canada, in a statement. “FLO continues to be a leader in EV charging, and our collaborations help to drive consumer EV adoption by improving functionality and expanding charging infrastructure.”

When a GM EV driver plugs his or her vehicle into a FLO DC fast charger, the company’s technology automatically confirms the driver’s identification, authorizes the charging session, and activates billing. However, the driver will need to link their FLO account with their myBrand App to activate the Plug and Charge feature on FLO’s DC fast charger.

In a statement Nathan Yang, FLO Chief Product Officer, said the company’s software technology is just the “latest step in FLO’s mission to provide the best charging experience for EV drivers across North America.”
