Porsche Cars Canada expanded its Porsche Drive subscription rental program in Montreal last month, following up on the service that was available in Toronto, Vancouver and Kelowna, and is looking to add more cities though there is no set timetable.
Patrick Saint-Pierre, Porsche Cars Canada Public Relations Director, told Canadian auto dealer expansion will depend on what happens in Montreal, where the program was launched on a pilot basis in 2018. It officially launched in Toronto in 2019 and subsequently amalgamated as Porsche Drive. The program launched in Vancouver in 2021 and then extended into Kelowna.
“The intention with Porsche Drive in Toronto was to expand the offering throughout the country and it was really natural that Montreal was going to get it,” said Saint-Pierre. “We’re looking at possibly offering it in more cities. Right now other cities are being evaluated. We haven’t gone to the extent of picking dates. Since the Montreal one just launched, we’re going to be carefully monitoring it to make sure it’s working well.”
Saint-Pierre said there are several factors that led to the expansion into Montreal and possibly more cities. He indicated the response from customers has been “stellar,” which has required increasing the number of vehicles available to meet the demand.
“We’ll see how it goes (in Montreal), but we suspect it will be a similar story because we’ve seen that in the other cities,” he said.
The Porsche Drive program in Montreal offers daily and weekly on-demand rental service, which was not available back in 2018. All services feature delivery and pick-up by a concierge anywhere a customer chooses within a 50-kilometre radius around the city’s downtown core.
Porsche Drive Montreal offers members access to a fleet of various models with added flexibility compared to a traditional lease or purchase. Rentals allow up to 400 kilometres per day, and daily pricing ranges from $319 to $539 for a one- to three-day rental period. The Porsche Drive Single-Vehicle Subscription offers access to a single Porsche model for one or three months. A multi-vehicle subscription plan will also soon be available in Montreal.
Porsche Centre Rive-Sud is overseeing the in-person experience and the Porsche Drive fleet in Montreal, including white-glove vehicle delivery and maintenance.
