The Scotiabank Women Initiative launched a mentoring and networking program called Women in Auto Accelerator to help women build their careers in Quebec’s automotive industry.
The program is free to participants. Its goal is to connect young professionals with industry leaders to receive mentoring and direct coaching. In a news release, Scotiabank said it also supports peer–to–peer exchanges by promoting connections between professionals from across the province.
“The Scotiabank Women Initiative is dedicated to empowering women entrepreneurs and increasing their economic and professional opportunities,” said Sloane Muldoon, Senior Vice President of Retail Performance, and Co-chair of The Scotiabank Women Initiative.
Muldoon said the program’s support of “exclusive networking and mentorship opportunities” aims to help close the gender representation gap in the automotive workforce.
The program will officially kick off on March 15 at 10:30 a.m. Eastern time, via a virtual conference co-hosted by Isabelle Maréchal, President of Iprod and Editor-in-Chief of Premières en affaires, and Ana Marinescu, Senior Manager of The Scotiabank Women Initiative.
A number of speakers will be taking part in this program to discuss issues such as workforce diversity and women in leadership. Some of the speakers include Sarah Houde, CEO of Propulsion Québec, and Robert Poëti, former Transport Minister and current CEO of the Quebec dealers association (known as the CCAQ in Quebec).
“The Women in Auto Accelerator program is a chance for the bank to create a network of women in automotive, spotlight women who have success in the industry, inspire the succession to follow their lead and give them support,” said Sylvie Gagnon, Director of Sales Market Lead in Quebec for Scotiabank’s Dealer Finance Centre.
She said the program will allow the company to encourage diversity.
