AutoCanada establishes its used digital retail division

North American automobile dealership group AutoCanada Inc., announced yesterday that it has acquired Mark Wilson’s Better Used Cars of Guelph, Ontario. This acquisition is in addition to AutoCanada’s recent acquisition of Haldimand Motors and advances the dealership group’s used digital retail division. AutoCanada currently operates 66 franchised dealerships representing 27 brands in eight provinces in Canada as well as a group in Illinois, USA.

Mark Wilson’s Better Used Cars has operated in Guelph and the surrounding area for more than 60 years and has been a consistent winner of Guelph’s Favourite Dealer Award over the years.

Located on 16 acres, the dealership’s facilities are 43,000 square feet and include 24 shop bays and a full-service department. According to a press release provided by AutoCanada Inc, the dealership will continue to be operated by Mark Wilson and his team.

“The addition of Mark Wilson’s expansive used vehicle operations further expands on our Used Digital Retail Initiative – a strategy to address the substantial opportunity in the Canadian market with the dedicated sale of used vehicles across all channels, including completely online,” Auto Canada’s Executive Chairman Paul Antony said in the company’s press release.

“As one of the best used vehicle dealer operators in the country, adding Wilson’s to AutoCanada further improves the company’s bench strength and talent pool and allows us to assess best in class practices as we continue to build our Used Digital Retail platform,” he added, noting that, “This acquisition also aligns with our strategy of geographic diversification as it expands our network of used dealerships and furthers our exposure into the Ontario market.”
