StressCrete introduces concealed Level 2 EV charging station product

StressCrete Group, which manufacturers spun concrete poles and light fixtures, launched a new product known as the VoltLock: a concealed Level 2 electric vehicle (EV) charging station built into the company’s Alexander pole.

According to StressCrete, the product is meant to provide EV owners with a discrete and convenient way to charge their vehicles. And since the charging station is encased in the concrete pole, it offers greater protection against tampering, which in turn should help consumers access a more consistent and reliable charging source.

“We are excited to introduce the VoltLock, a new solution that will help communities scale-up their green infrastructure by utilizing their existing street lighting network,” said Luke van Vliet, Chief Growth Officer of StressCrete Group. “At StressCrete Group, our goal is to develop products that will enhance communities and create more livable cities.”

Some of the benefits to the product include faster and easier installation and convenience as a charging option for neighbourhoods with street parking as the only parking option. It is also designed to combine with FLO SmartTWO charging stations.

StressCrete selected FLO, a North American EV charging network operator/supplier of smart charging solutions, as its inaugural charging equipment supplier for the VoltLock.

“The VoltLock offers multiple opportunities for communities to expand EV charging infrastructure, even in demanding environments, while providing excellent protection against many types of tampering,” said Brookes Shean, General Manager, USA East and Central Canada at FLO.

When combined with the locking mechanism in FLO’s SmartTWO charging station, Shean said, the solution “is perfect for communities looking to increase EV adoption.”
