KAR Global has invested in AI-powered vehicle inspections technology through a North American commercial partnership with Ravin AI, which aims to fortify the company’s digital capabilities.
Ravin is an international provider of automated, mobile, and CCTV-based artificial intelligence solutions for vehicle inspections aimed at fleet, insurance, and remarketing customers around the globe — which means that Ravin can also be utilized by customers across Canada.
“Ravin AI has developed the most powerful and progressive computer vision, deep learning, and self-inspection solutions on the market,” said Peter Kelly, President of KAR Global. “These tools will accelerate and enhance the vehicle inspection process, helping our customers make smarter, more informed selling and buying decisions and achieve better outcomes.”
With Ravin in KAR’s portfolio, the company has added mobile-based AI capabilities for damage detection and vehicle representation through a self- or company-inspection model. Some of the main applications include data-rich tools for end-of-lease processing, pre-auction inspections, dealer aftersales, fleet maintenance, and condition monitoring.
Currently, Ravin supports some of KAR’s North American commercial customers, but the plan is to accelerate product development while also expanding the use and adoption of its technology.
