Dealer-FX, a service technology provider for some of the world’s top automakers, including General Motors, Nissan, and Toyota, announced this week that it has enhanced its ONE Platform with new integrated video capabilities.
The ONE Platform is a cloud-based system designed to connect dealerships, consumers, OEM, and third-party systems in an effort to increase efficiency and customer experience within service departments.
The Ontario-based company will be introducing Visual MPI to dealerships. This new feature of the ONE Platform will allow service technicians to record videos of recommended repairs and automatically apply the videos to MPI and repair orders. The technological change could significantly alter the customer experience by enhancing a consumer’s understanding of what is happening with their vehicle at any given time.
Addressing the concern that many technological solutions are rarely used by technicians and service advisors, Bill Lucchini, CEO of Dealer-FX said in a company news release that “Visual MPI was specifically designed around the dealership workflow.”
While video can help consumers understand the service and repairs undertaken on their vehicle, there have been challenges to-date in fully integrating video into the repair process without disrupting a technician’s workflow. If the processes are too cumbersome, technicians will be unlikely to adopt the technology.
Alan Fong, CTO of Dealer-FX claims that Visual MPI has found a simple solution to these issues. “Our solution does not require any applications to be downloaded or video to be stored on the technician’s personal devices,” said Fong. “We automatically carry all repair order details with the video, eliminating additional effort or human error in manual matching.”
