The Ford F-150 is Canada’s most searched vehicle for 2020, while luxury cars continue to captivate consumers — making utility and luxury vehicles a mainstay that has endured the impact of COVID-19, according to autoTRADER.ca.
The top searched vehicles for 2020 in Canada are the Ford F-150, Ford Mustang, BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Porsche 911, Honda Civic, BMW M, Chevrolet Corvette, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and Toyota RAV4.
“For the sixth year running the Ford F-150 retains the number one spot as Canada’s top searched vehicle on autoTRADER.ca, despite being the only truck on the car-dominant 2020 Top Searched list,” said Jodi Lai, Editor-in-Chief, autoTRADER.ca.
In a news release, the company also said its marketplace data revealed a “significant increase in Canadians shopping for cars,” with autoTRADER.ca noting a record high of 25 million visits in a single month, and a 21 per cent-plus boost in visits year-over-year.
That comes thanks to pandemic-related impacts such as a decrease in comfort levels among consumers regarding the use of public transportation and ride-sharing, an increase in the desire to own a vehicle, and more time spent shopping online.
By province, British Columbia appears to be the leader in luxury, with the Porsche 911, the BMW M, BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and Mercedes-Benz E-Class on the Top Searched list for B.C.
“The rest of Canada shares the west coast love for premium vehicles with at least one luxury model appearing on every regional Top Searched list with the exception of Saskatchewan,” said autoTRADER.ca.
In Alberta, the Ford F-150 is the Top searched vehicle — again, with the Ram 1500 dropping from the list, while new luxury entrants like the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, BMW M, and BMW X5 were added. The Toyota RAV4, Jeep Grand Cherokee, and BMW X5 also made the list.
In Ontario, the Ford Mustang sits at the top of the list, with the Honda CR-V, Toyota Corolla, and Toyota Camry slotting somewhere below it within the top 10.
As for Quebec, the Honda Civic continues to dominate the province’s Top Searched list for the fourth consecutive year, with the Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Porsche 911 also on the list.
