John Stapleton, General Motors North America Chief Financial Officer, has been tapped as the new acting Global Chief Financial Officer, effective August 15.
The news follows another move at GM, where Dhivya Suryadevara, Executive Vice President and CFO, resigned and plans to leave the automotive industry for other opportunities.
“Dhivya has been a transformational leader in her tenure as CFO,” said Mary Barra, Chairman and CEO of General Motors. “She has helped the company strengthen our balance sheet, improve our cost structure, focus on cash generation and drive the right investments for our future. We wish her every success.”
As for Stapleton, the company’s new Global CFO, he joined GM in 1990 and was the North America CFO since January 2014. He also held several finance roles with responsibility in manufacturing, labor, performance improvement, and operations.
