ADESA physical, Simulcast-only sales halted for 2 weeks

On March 20, KAR Global implemented COVID-19 health and safety measures for its employees and customers by halting physical sales operations at all ADESA locations in North America for a minimum of two weeks.

The company is also halting its Simulcast-only sales for the same period of time, if not longer — depending on how the novel coronavirus situation developments.

“As permitted by local, state and provincial directives, we will maintain minimal essential operations at those locations for security purposes and to receive and release vehicles under certain circumstances,” the company said in a news release.

KAR’s essential onsite staff will continue to follow recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Public Health Agency of Canada, regarding workplace safety, social distancing, and enhanced cleaning protocols.

The company’s digital marketplaces and platform businesses will remain open for buyers and sellers, according to the company.

“We believe this is a temporary safety measure, and that our balance sheet, including our cash position, is strong and we are well positioned to sustain our business and navigate the uncertainty for the foreseeable future,” said KAR Global.
