Ray Tanguay, former Chair and President of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (TMMC) and Paul Hollands, former President & CEO of A&W, are the newest members to join OpenRoad Auto Group’s Board of Directors.
“I’m incredibly honoured to welcome Mr. Tanguay and Mr. Hollands and I’m thrilled they have agreed to become part of our team of closest advisors,” said Christian Chia, CEO of OpenRoad Auto Group. “Both gentlemen have a wealth of knowledge, expertise and specialized business acumen that will help us to continue to innovate as a leading North American automotive dealership group.”
Tanguay joined TMMC in 1991, and under his leadership it became the first Toyota manufacturing facility outside of Japan to produce Lexus vehicles — as of 2003. A couple of years later Tanguay held the role of Managing Officer of Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) in Japan, and took on additional responsibilities as Executive Vice President of Toyota Engineering Manufacturing North America and Chief Risk Officer. He also held positions such as Senior Managing Officer for Toyota Engineering Manufacturing North America, and Chair and President of TMMC.
“Tanguay currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors for the Trillium Network for Advanced Manufacturing,” said OpenRoad Auto Group in a news release. “In addition, he is a founding member of the Canadian Automotive Partnership Council, founding member of OG100, Executive Advisor to FIRST, Dean Advisory Council for both the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University.”
Hollands, also a new member of OpenRoad Auto Group’s Board of Directors, helped guide A&W to become the second largest quick-service burger restaurant chain in the country. He also helped introduce new store designs and a rapid growth of new restaurants, and was part of the team that created the publicly-traded A&W Revenue Royalty Income Fund.
“He is also Chair of Vendasta Technologies, one of Canada’s premier technology companies based in Saskatoon,” said OpenRoad Auto Group, adding that “In February 2018, he retired as Chief Executive Officer but remains Chairman of the A&W Board.”
Both Tanguay and Hollands have received recognition for their various achievements in work and within their communities.
