Founded in 2014 as a tool to help small businesses grow their online reputations through online reviews, Podium recently joined Fast Company’s annual list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies for 2019, alongside such titans as the Walt Disney Company, Apple, Shopify, and Universal Music Group.
Fast Company’s prestigious list showcases businesses making a huge impact on industry and culture, and Podium has certainly made its mark working with over 30,000+ businesses building over four million customer interactions a month. At least one-in-seven U.S. cell phone owners are connected to a local business via its platform, according to a news release.
“The economy has grown and evolved in a way that requires local businesses to modernize the way they interact,” said Eric Rea, CEO of Podium. “This award is confirmation that Podium is providing real innovation to modernize these businesses that we work with everyday, and we’re excited to share what else we have in store for 2019 in the coming months.”
As part of the selection process for this year’s edition, Fast Company’s editors and writers looked at ground-breaking businesses across 35 industries and nominations received through their application process. The World’s Most Innovative Companies list offers both a snapshot and a road map for the future of innovation across the most dynamic sectors of the economy.
“Established players are showing the same kind of nimbleness that we’ve generally associated with start-ups,” said Fast Company deputy editor David Lidsky.
Podium being named to the list is a distinction that follows a string of key highlights and recognitions in the past year. In the fall of 2018, they were named to Forbes’ Next Billion-Dollar Start-ups List for 2018 as well as the Forbes 2018 Cloud 100. With a three-year growth margin of over 13,000 percent, they also took the ninth spot on the 2018 Deloitte Technology 500, and number 13 on the Inc. 500.
Fall was also a huge time for growth within Podium as they unveiled their new 125,000 square foot headquarters in Lehi, Utah for 430 current employees and the 375 additional employees they are looking to bring onboard throughout 2019.
