Canadian politician and native Montrealer Robert Poëti has been appointed President and CEO of the Corporation des concessionnaires d’automobiles du Québec — otherwise known as the CCAQ.
He officially entered the position on October 19, months after he announced his decision not to run for re-election this fall. Poëti’s goal will be to highlight the importance of the automotive industry in Quebec and to optimize the strengths of the CCAQ, according to a news release.
Poëti says the CCAQ is a “key contributor to CADA: the Canadian Automobile Dealers Association, and a privileged partner of car manufacturers who pay close attention to it.” He adds that the CCAQ has made giant strides since its inception in 1945, and “together we will continue to shape the future, starting now.”
Poëti was a member of the National Assembly of Quebec and a member of the Quebec Liberal Party caucus. Before joining the CCAQ, he held the position of Minister for Integrity in Public Procurement and for Information Resources; Member of the Comité ministériel de l’économie, de la création d’emplois et du développement durable; and he was a former police officer of the Sûreté du Québec.
The members of the CCAQ and its CarrXpert body shop contribute to more than 40,000 direct jobs in the province of Quebec.
