AJAC reveals Green Car and Utility Vehicle of the Year finalists

The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) has revealed the finalists of the 2018 Canadian Green Car and Utility Vehicle of the Year.

For the Green Car of the Year, the finalists include the Chevrolet Bolt EV, Hyundai IONIQ Electric and the Volkswagen e-Golf. In the Green Utility Vehicle of the Year department, potential winners include the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, Kia Niro and Subaru Crosstrek.

“Our Canadian Green Car and Green Utility Vehicle of the Year winners have been tested extensively throughout the year, by a substantial group of Canadian auto experts from coast to coast,” said CCOTY Co-Chair Justin Pritchard, adding that “Our experts, who cover numerous media outlets, score all eligible entries on parameters including recharge time, driving range, vehicle dynamics, market significance, and overall value.”

Pritchard says the scores are then weighed based on its relevance to the vehicle and category in question. “The winning score also represents how the vehicle stacks up to its market segment competition — whether green or otherwise. Today, Green vehicles come in many shapes and sizes, and our testing and scoring process takes this fully into consideration.”

The official winners of each category will be announced on March 28, 2018 during the Vancouver International Auto Show’s opening ceremonies.
