Canadians enjoy intimate encounters in their vehicle

Canadians love their cars for more than just the ability to rev the engine — they enjoy the opportunity to have intimate encounters in their vehicle as well, according to a study commissioned by

A whopping 75 per cent of Canadians have confessed to having been physically intimate in their cars, and this is something that both baby boomers and millennials have in common.

“Despite technology dramatically transforming dating culture, something about getting hot and heavy in a car transcends generations and has stood the test of time,” said psychologist and relationship expert Nicole McCance. “It seems the majority of Canadians are open to moving beyond the bedroom, but want to make sure their partners are on the same page. Not only does an intimate encounter in a car offer an element of excitement and danger, it may also be considered convenient in some cases,” she added.

More than 35 per cent of Canadians consider this type of intimacy with their partner to be fun and exciting, while 26 per cent see it as naughty and risqué. More interestingly, 31 per cent say the size and comfort of the vehicle interior is a motivating factor, and 6 per cent are lulled in by luxury models.

The most popular vehicles for this type of activity includes roomy luxury cars (41 per cent popularity), followed by large and roomy SUVs (31 per cent), along with sports cars, sedans and pickup trucks.

“In recent years, SUV sales have experienced an all-time high, with the vehicle quickly becoming a household favourite for Canadians,” said Michael Bettencourt, managing editor, “Traditionally, the popularity of SUVs can be credited to many factors — from comfort, to safety — but perhaps we’re learning there’s more to the story…”
