Online auto shoppers determine dealer award winners

A new awards program that recognizes Canadian dealers who have the highest average ratings from online shoppers has been launched by automotive shopping website CarGurus. Top Rated Dealer Awards recognize dealers who “are prioritizing customer service and earning excellent ratings from shoppers,” said Sam Zales, president of dealer operations at CarGurus.

CarGurus invites shoppers to review and rate the dealerships they have interacted with. Dealer ratings and reviews are visible to the public on the site. They are also factored in the algorithm the company uses to rank search results for shoppers.

A recent CarGurus poll showed that 78 per cent of shoppers said they would not buy a car from a dealership without first seeking out reviews from other shoppers.

The company says the Top Rated Dealer Awards provide customers with independent validation that they are getting a good deal from a great dealer.
