Refresh Financial names new exec

Former vice-president of Ontario-based CarProof, Karim Hemani, has joined Refresh Financial as the credit building solution provider’s chief operating officer. Hemani has driven consumer-focused business strategy in automotive, retail and financial services for the last 14 years in senior executive roles at various companies, said a news release. Refresh Financial runs credit-building programs to help consumers once they have been approved for a loan, among other services.

Hemani was recruited to CarProof by private equity owners to improve company value and trigger an eventual exit. CarProof’s U.S. competitor eventually bought the company for $650 million.

“I saw the incredible contributions that Karim made at CarProof and easyfinancial and am very excited to have him on our team,” said Michael Wendland, Refresh Financial, CEO.

In late 2016, Canadian Business and PROFIT today ranked Refresh Financial as number three on the Startup 50 list of Canada’s Top New Growth Companies.

The company had achieved a two-year revenue growth of 1,948 per cent at the time it was ranked.

“I am thrilled to join the team at Refresh and am excited to bring my experience so far to a company that helps so many Canadians,” said Hemani. “Through my previous roles, I’ve seen the need for the solution that Refresh provides and am excited to be part of this great company during this stage of its growth.”
