CARPROOF releases study on path to purchase

To help dealers better understand the process of how Canadians find and purchase used vehicles, CARPROOF has released the findings of its first research study, “Into the Minds of Consumers.”

CARPROOF followed used vehicle buyers down the path of needing a vehicle, where they look for one, and how they close the deal of purchase.

Two key findings have emerged from this study, said CARPROOF.

The first is that some used vehicle shoppers prefer to do their own research and focus on finding their ideal vehicle. These people do not consider which dealership they will buy from, said CARPROOF.

The company also found that some used vehicle buyers want the assistance of a car dealer, and take requests from family and friends as to which dealership to visit. In addition, used vehicle buyers are looking at dealerships with the best reputation by word of mouth.

“This particular data-set provides surprising new information about the way used vehicle buyers are shopping, which will be very insightful to dealerships looking to find new customers and build relationships that bring them back for their next purchase,” said Mark Rousseau, President of CARPROOF in a written release.
