Dealers now have another option when looking for inspection services for their vehicle life equipment.
TUV Rheinland, a global testing and certification body, has received accreditation from the Automotive Lift Institute (ALI) to test vehicle lift safety in the U.S. and Canada.
In addition to testing products against safety standards issued by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), TUV Rheinland is also accredited to test to the CAN CSA No. 68 safety standard for motor-operated equipment in Canada.
Lifts must be able to raise a multi-ton vehicle up and down without damage or compromising the health and safety of technicians.
Those that are tested by independent third party national accredited testing labs can carry the gold ALI Certified label and be listed in the ALI Directory of Certified Lifts, said the company.
Lift testing involves verifying the machinery can actually hold 150 per cent of its rated load capacity, system and component testing, visual inspection and a verification of structural integrity.
The instructional materials for proper lift operation must meet quality standards, as well as the manufacturer’s production facility, said the company.
