Honda has outlined its approach to sustainability and any corporate social responsibilities in a new report to stakeholders.
“We pursue sustainability through addressing the issues of the environment, safety, quality and society, and we create value through innovation and challenge,” wrote Takahiro Hachigo, the new president of Honda, in his message at the beginning of the 2015 Sustainability Report.
The automaker’s first sustainability report combines content from its previous CSR report and its annual environmental one. The corporate activities relate to four themes, including environment, safety, quality and society.
• Environment: The report releases data related to Honda’s global environmental performance, including plans and progress for the financial period ending March 31, 2017.
• Safety: This section covers Honda’s safety initiatives such as traffic safety education, safety technologies and communicating safety-enhancing information through telematics.
• Quality: Honda’s initiatives in the area of quality include quality assurance, improving market quality globally and equality management education.
• Society: The report introduces Honda’s initiatives in human resources, social activities and supply chain.
Honda said it consulted with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), a guideline recognized internationally for sustainability reporting, for building its report.
