UNIVERSUS MEDIA REDEFINED IMMEDIACY AT ONTARIO DEALER DAY EVENT

If you were at Ontario Dealer Day in April, you probably saw the Universus Media video team at work. They were the ones dressed in black shirts with Universus logos on their chests. (Universus is the company that brings you Canadian auto dealer, and is a big producer of custom videos for the Canadian automotive market).

Teams of Universus editors and videographers worked the trade show floor and a team of editors in our booth edited videos on the fly.

Over the course of Ontario Dealer Day, our team interviewed dozens of attendees, exhibitors and keynote speakers. All in all, they produced 28 separate videos!

That’s a lot of video content, and you can view it yourself on the website: www.canadianautomotivevideo.com.

Canadian automotive video was launched last year to help aggregate videos for Canada’s auto industry, and to showcase much of our own video work.

But the story isn’t so much about the volume of videos produced — it’s about the immediacy. Most of the videos were posted while the event was still unfolding, and all were online within hours of Ontario Dealer Day concluding.

The Trillium Automobile Dealers Association (TADA — which hosted the event), invited us mid-way through the event to show some of the videos on giant screens inside the exhibition hall and on monitors in the lobby.

The next day, we also sent out a custom e-blast with an event overview video that provided a synopsis of all the activities on the show floor.

Part of our plan was to give dealers and exhibitors a chance to share their immediate feedback about the Ontario Dealer Day event in video format. That goal was achieved.

But the main reason we did it was to prove that we could. To prove it to ourselves, our association partners, our readers and to the exhibitors.

At Canadian auto dealer, we strongly believe video will soon become one of the main ways you consume information — and not just from us. That’s why we’re always looking to push the frontiers to bring you what you need, when you want it, in whatever format and via whatever device that best suits you.

And we’re just getting started.

We recently invested in live video streaming technology and will soon be covering major industry events with live video feeds streaming into special event pages that will transport you to the heart of the action — without ever leaving your desk.
