Nissan LEAF’s in Canada spoken for in two hours

If you’ve been trying to get your hands on a 2011 Nissan LEAF in Canada, well, better wait until next year. For 2011, the company allocated just 40 examples of the much- touted electric car for Canadian customers and every one had been accounted for in just two hours.

“Response from Canadians since we first revealed the LEAF in 2009 has been astounding,” remarked Nissan Canada’s Director of Marketing Judy Wheeler.

“We’re therefore not surprised that our first inventory of 40 ’11 model year vehicles was snapped up so quickly.”

For 2012 Nissan Canada has said that it plans to expand availability of the LEAF to some 600 cars and in the coming months will be taking orders for them via its website, nissan.ca/leaf. The company will require a $99 deposit (fully refundable) in order to secure a 2012 LEAF and customers must also book a home charging assessment before they can actually order the car.
