Cutting the column lift cord

There’s a new innovation in column lift technology, but you won’t see it. Rotary Lift and its new Mach4T column lift promise all the capability of a regular lift without one important feature: cords.

The wireless mobile columns run on batteries and communicate with each other wirelessly. The new mobile columns are a patented technology, says the company.

“The lift is a tool that technicians use to get the vehicle into position to do their real job: truck maintenance and repair,” explains Doug Spiller, Rotary Lift’s heavy-duty product manager.

According to Rotary lift, the Wireless Mach 4 offers increased productivity over regular column lifts. Their time and motion studies have shown that the new lift offers a 30 percent productivity improvement over similar lift times, saving an organization more than $7,600 in labour.

The entire lift can be controlled using one-touch control panels located on each column. The panels feature on-board diagnostics, LEDs, and a graphic layout of the column set-up.

Lifting time is the quickest in the industry, and can raise a vehicle 70 inches in 78 seconds, says the company. Each column has a rated lifting capacity of 18,000 lbs. and is powered by two deep-cycle marine batteries. Lifting and lowering of the columns is automatically synchronized.

Rotary lift says the columns lock every three inches and also features a lower-to-lock function. The forks can also adjust to fit different wheels, without adapter sleeves. Extended forks are also available to support inboard tire set-ups on dual-wheeled axles.
