Toyota gives $300,000 to Food Banks Canada

Toyota Canada and its dealer network have committed $300,000 to Food Banks Canada through the Toyota Cars For Good program, renewing a national partnership aimed at supporting food security initiatives across the country.

Announced July 8, the donation marks the second year of the partnership, which Toyota says has already helped provide more than one million meals to people in Canada. A portion of every new Toyota vehicle sold in Canada contributes to the Cars For Good program, allowing participating dealerships to support community initiatives through vehicle sales.

“Through Toyota Cars For Good, our dealers across Canada are helping turn everyday business into meaningful impact,” said Steve Pilkey, Vice-President of  Sales and Marketing at Toyota Canada, in a statement. “We’re proud to work in partnership with Food Banks Canada to help more people in Canada access the food they need to pursue their potential and purpose.”

Alongside the renewed funding, Toyota has launched a new national awareness campaign highlighting food insecurity. The campaign features two new advertisements, Hat Trick and Jazz Night, which focus on the role access to healthy food plays in helping Canadians reach their potential and pursue their goals.

“We’re grateful to Toyota Canada for their continued commitment to helping address food insecurity across the country,” said Kirstin Beardsley, CEO of Food Banks Canada, in a statement. ”As the need for food banks continues to grow, partnerships like this help strengthen our ability to support people and families across the country.”

Toyota Canada noted it has contributed more than $1 million to local food banks since 2020 through various initiatives and said it will continue working with its dealer network and Food Banks Canada to support communities nationwide.
