Subaru Canada has appointed Yoichi Hori as its new Chairman, President and CEO, replacing Tomohiro Kubota following his three-year and four-month tenure leading the Canadian business.
The automaker announced the leadership change June 8, thanking Kubota for what it described as his dedication and transformative leadership during his time with the company. Hori will continue to serve as Managing Executive Officer of Subaru Corporation and Chairman and CEO of Subaru of America while assuming responsibility for Subaru Canada.
In a statement, Hori acknowledged Kubota’s contributions to the company’s growth in Canada and expressed enthusiasm about taking on the new role.
“I would like to express my gratitude towards Tomohiro Kubota for exceptional leadership and dedication, making significant contributions to the growth and success of the Subaru business in Canada,” said Hori. “I’m excited to build on this strong foundation and lead Subaru Canada.”
Subaru Canada said Hori’s experience across multiple markets will benefit the Canadian organization as it moves forward.
The automaker did not announce any additional executive changes or outline specific strategic priorities tied to the appointment.
Leadership transitions at automakers often coincide with evolving market conditions and changing business priorities. Hori’s continued responsibilities with Subaru Corporation and Subaru of America position him with oversight across several key North American operations.
Kubota had served as Chairman, President and CEO since early 2023, overseeing the Canadian business through a period marked by industry supply-chain recovery, shifting consumer demand and continued growth in the utility vehicle segment.
