Canada’s shift toward electric mobility will take centre stage in Toronto next month as industry leaders gather for the EV & Charging Expo, one of the country’s largest electrification events.
Organized by Electric Autonomy, the two-day conference will take place April 8-9 at the Enercare Centre, bringing together more than 2,000 delegates from over 900 organizations to discuss electric vehicles, charging infrastructure and fleet electrification strategies.
The event comes as the federal government rolls out a new national automotive strategy that includes billions of dollars in investment aimed at expanding EV charging infrastructure, supporting consumer incentives and strengthening domestic supply chains.
“Canada’s electric mobility sector is at a pivotal moment,” said Ilana Weitzman of Electric Autonomy in a statement. “With public and private investment flowing into infrastructure and innovation, organizations across every sector must now move from ambition to implementation and strategically plan for an electric future.”
More than 100 speakers are expected to participate in sessions focused on charging networks, commercial fleet electrification and energy management. Attendees will also be able to test-drive commercial electric vehicles on 1.8 kilometres of public roads surrounding the venue.
The event reflects a broader industry shift toward electrification, including new vehicle technologies and charging solutions that could influence retail operations and service requirements as EV adoption grows.
Among the speakers scheduled to appear are René Reif, CEO and and Chief Operating Officer at PowerCo Canada; Richard Steiner, VP of Government Relations and Public Affairs at autonomous freight company Gatik; and battery researcher Jeff Dahn, who will headline the kWh Summit taking place the day before the Expo.
The Expo Hall will feature automakers and technology providers including Ford Pro, GM Envolve, Kia, Uber, Element Fleet Management and NAPA NexDrive, showcasing vehicles, charging equipment and energy management solutions.
New additions for 2026 include the ChargeHub Awards for Charging Experience Excellence, live battery repair demonstrations and a technical studio featuring sessions on topics such as charging infrastructure cybersecurity.
