Women look for reliability and compatibility during their car shopping journey more than men, a new study by Hyundai Canada revealed.
The study is part of the automaker’s campaign to promote its new Ioniq eco vehicle.
The report reveals parallels between car shopping and dating, demonstrating that — in both cases — women are more sensible as 77 per cent look for reliability in a potential partner, and 87 per cent search for the same thing in a car (compared to 66 per cent and 80 per cent for men).
“There are a lot of similarities between dating and car shopping,” says The Bachelorette Canada’s Jasmine Lorimer. “I know I’m guilty of building a list of qualities that I look for in both and I was pleasantly surprised by the Ioniq – it’s fun to drive, full of all the necessary tech features and has a super sleek design.
Hyundai’s report also revealed that 80 per cent of women look for compatible lifestyles with a partner (compared to 69 per cent of men), while 35 per cent consider compatibility when car shopping (versus to 29 per cent of men).
Both genders consider appearance when it comes to dating and looking for a new car.
Canadians also find dating and car shopping to be a stressful experience (32 per cent and 48 per cent, respectively).
“Dating and car shopping are more similar than you’d think. Both require a considerable amount of time, have long-term effects, and often involve diving into the unknown,” said Lawrence Hamilton, Director of Marketing, Hyundai Auto Canada.
