Magna International will use Microsoft HoloLens mixed reality technology to give visitors to CES 2017 a chance to personally experience a car of the future. The self-contained holographic computer will showcase cameras, sensors, LIDAR and radar systems that enable autonomous driving.
It will also allow visitors to experience seat sensors that provide continuous feedback to the driver, active aerodynamic fuel efficiency technology and a variety of powertrain architectures including multiple hybrid variants and full electrification.
The company will also feature its latest advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and an ADAS simulator will provide real-life autonomous driving situations.
“We pride ourselves in pushing the boundaries of technology and innovation,” says Swamy Kotagiri, chief technology officer at Magna International. “We do this by identifying the forces impacting mobility and creating solutions that support the shift in the automotive landscape.”
As technology players continue to expose consumers to these new technologies at events like these, it will boost the awareness and appetite for more autonomous driving technologies in today’s vehicles.
