The Toronto Parking Authority (TPA) and Toronto Hydro have reached a major milestone in the city’s electric mobility efforts, energizing the 500th public electric vehicle (EV) charging station in Canada’s largest municipally owned network.
Located at Green P Carpark 504 on Willingdon Blvd., the new charger expands access across the city. Toronto Hydro and TPA have partnered since 2020 to expand EV charging infrastructure across the city, with Toronto Hydro launched the initial network of chargers before transferring ownership to TPA in 2023.
“Reaching 500 energized EV charging stations is a testament to what strong partnerships can achieve,” said Jana Mosley, President & CEO of Toronto Hydro, in a statement.
TPA President Scott Collier said the expansion is central to improving access and encouraging EV adoption. “Our mission is clear: to create a seamless mobility experience that delivers on Choice, Ease, and Speed for our customers,” he said in a statement.
He added that the purposeful expansion of their EV network is a catalyst for EV adoption across Toronto, and noted that the move also supports Toronto’s TransformTO Net Zero Strategy.
“This milestone also reflects our passion to advance the City’s TransformTO Net Zero Strategy by building a more sustainable and integrated mobility eco-system to keep Toronto moving,” said Collier.
Toronto Hydro estimates it will connect more than 4,000 EV chargers at buildings and residential homes by the end of 2025, further boosting accessibility for drivers across the region.
The TPA network now represents a significant share of the city’s 3,000-plus public chargers — a foundation many expect will help accelerate Toronto’s transition to electric transportation.
