Car dealers aren’t the only mobility firms supporting Quebec charities. The ride-hailing service Lyft, is now increasingly active in the province on several fronts. Lyft is extending its presence in Quebec with the launch of its Round Up & Donate program, giving riders an easy way to support local charities by rounding their fare up to the nearest dollar. The initiative, already active across the United States and Canada, is now live in Quebec for the first time.
For the rollout in Montreal, Lyft brought together members of its local team and community partners, including Jerry Golden, Chief Policy Officer; Maria Allaham, Public Policy Manager; Shadawn Reddick-Smith, Senior Manager of Policy Communications; and Raphaël Richard, Business Development and Philanthropy Advisor at Centraide of Greater Montréal.
“Serving and connecting communities means showing up with more than just rides —it means showing up with heart,” said Golden in a statement. “Through Round Up & Donate, riders can turn spare change from every trip into meaningful support for Quebec organizations combating poverty and homelessness.”
Centraide’s Raphaël Richard said the program reinforces a broader support network: “It takes a whole network. When a person needs help, a whole network mobilizes.”
Riders can choose to donate their roundup contributions to one of three Quebec organizations: Centraide of Greater Montréal, La rue des Femmes, and Maison du Père. Each group supports vulnerable populations through programs focused on housing, food security, mental health, and long-term reintegration.
Since 2017, Lyft riders across North America have donated more than $42 million through the program. To mark its Quebec debut, Lyft is contributing $30,000 in initial local investments, including $10,000 for each partner charity.
