Payment processor Nuvei recently announced the expansion of its partnership with electric vehicle charging infrastructure company Loop Global to improve payment experiences for drivers across Canada.
The partnership builds on an existing U.S. collaboration. The Canadian-focused partnership means Nuvei is now providing Loop Global with its direct local acquiring capabilities. In other words Nuvei’s solution and local acquiring capabilities are powering Loop Global’s EV charging terminals across Canada. Targets include workplaces, municipalities, and public infrastructure.
“This partnership represents another important step in delivering seamless payment experiences in fast-growing industries,” said Phil Fayer, Nuvei Chair and CEO, in a statement. He added “We’re combining our local acquiring capabilities in Canada with Loop Global’s expanding EV infrastructure and WizarPOS’ Android payment technology to power the shift to sustainable transportation.
Fayer said this is being done to make it easier for consumers to operate EVs wherever they are “and however they choose to pay.”
Son Dang, Chief Product Officer and Co-Founder of Loop Global, added that the expanded partnership with Nuvei ensures “drivers enjoy reliable, secure, and seamless charging experiences, while keeping charging convenient for drivers and cost-effective for site hosts.”
Nuvei and Loop Global also plan on extending their collaboration to regions beyond the U.S. and Canada before the end of the year, such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
