The Global Automakers of Canada has commissioned a report on economic contributions from its members that offers an in-depth look at how they are supporting jobs, innovation, and investment in communities across the country.
Known as The 2025 Economic Contributions Report and produced by the Trillium Network for Advanced Manufacturing, GAC’s data shows 220,000 jobs have been supported by its members, directly and indirectly, across Canada. For example, 60 per cent of all vehicles sold in Canada are from GAC member companies.
Seventy per cent of Canada’s total vehicle production and exports come from GAC members Honda and Toyota. About one in five of the vehicles made in the country are produced by these two brands.
The report also highlights a shift in consumer behaviour, seeing more Canadians buying vehicles made by GAC member companies. And it shows GAC members are leading investments in Canada’s electric vehicle and advanced manufacturing.
“[…] This report confirms that GAC members are doing far more than just selling cars; they are deeply embedded in Canada’s economy, creating jobs, driving investment, and contributing to long-term economic growth,” said Brendan Sweeney, author of the report and Managing Director of the Trillium Network for Advanced Manufacturing, in a statement.
