DAC sees continued growth on sales per dealer franchise

DesRosiers Automotive Consultants has been working with its colleagues at the Canadian Automobile Dealers Association to keep a close eye on the dealer community, and specially, sales per dealer franchise.

Its data reveals the top brands by average sales per franchise presented a somewhat familiar mix during the first half of 2025. Lexus reached 453 units sold on average, and Toyota followed with 429 units sold.

“Of course, while the pace of sales thus far in 2025 was positive, the year has seen (yet again) unprecedented challenges, this time in the form of a trade conflict with our southern neighbour,” said DAC in its update. They added that the highest volume sales months of the year have passed and that there is “plenty of headwind to keep track of.”

On a longer-term basis, DAC said a growth of 8.2% in sales in 2024 saw sales moving back towards pre-pandemic highs. As a result, sales per dealer franchise figures enjoyed gains also towards pre-pandemic levels that reached an annual average of 483 units. This is compared to 448 in 2023.

“Dealer franchises continued to see their average sales rise in 2024 with the first half of 2025 also seeing strength,” said Andrew King, Managing Partner at DAC, in a statement. “The gain in 2024 was especially notable given the increase in the total franchise count in Canada as well; an additional 20 franchises over the previous year, largely the result of Fiat expanding its Canadian network.”
