Canada’s Forest Trust Corporation launched a National Advisory Board that brings together experts and leaders, including those in the automotive industry, to help speed up nature-based solutions across the country.
Advisors provide expertise in areas like biodiversity, forestry, education, youth engagement, Indigenous partnerships, data, business, and climate adaptation. They also bring experience in various industries, from insurance to retail to the auto sector. For example, two of the advisors are Monte Weis, Chair of Weis Group; and Peter Porteous, YPO Automotive Industry Network Board Member and Chair.
“What we’re seeing with our clients in the auto sector is a real commitment to giving back to the environment, and drivers want to know they’re making an impact when they make a significant decision to purchase a vehicle,” said Weis in a statement. “I’m looking forward to sitting at the table with other experts from various industries to put our heads together, and increase positive environmental impact in Canada.”
In its update, CFTC said it will work with its National Advisory Board to help businesses and national youth groups reach their sustainability goals, while also moving climate and biodiversity action forward in Canada.
Other advisors include Steve Hounsell, Past Chair of the Ontario Biodiversity Council who managed biodiversity programs at Ontario Power Generation (OPG) and Ontario Hydro; JP Gladu, Principal of Mokwateh and former President and CEO of the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB); and Gary Zed, Founder & CEO of CFTC, former National Tax Market Leader at EY, and National Partner at Deloitte.
