Communauto hosted a conference in Québec that brought North American and international carsharing organizations together to discuss the evolution of the industry and upcoming challenges.
The conference took place at the Montreal Science Centre on October 28 and at Esplanade Tranquille on October 29. It was launched in celebration of Communauto’s 30th anniversary and is perhaps a sign of how much carsharing has progressed over the past decades, as consumer needs continue to evolve.
“Since its inception, Communauto has always recognized the importance of collaboration and knowledge exchange within the sustainable mobility and carsharing industry,” said Marco Viviani, Vice President of Strategic Development at Communauto, in a statement.
Viviani added that the company was particularly pleased to organize the event to create meaningful connections and discussions among industry players. The event hosted several carsharing organizations, researchers from various universities, and representatives from cities and mobility-focused tech companies.
Two key topics covered during the conference was the relationship between carsharing, cities, and transportation companies; and emerging technologies such as transportation electrification, self-driving vehicles, and artificial intelligence.
Communauto operates in 19 cities across two continents, including Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, Halifax, and Paris.
