Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada is renewing its partnership with Food Banks Canada after collecting more than $400,000 over the past three years to help relieve food insecurity across Canada.
The company said it wants to focus more intently on supporting food banks in the communities its dealerships serve. Its Driving to End Hunger campaign officially kicked off Sept. 1 with its dealerships, ranging from coast to coast, collecting donations of funds, food, and non-perishables.
“Our slogan is Drive your Ambition, and with this Driving to End Hunger campaign, our ambition is to help the growing number of Canadians who struggle to afford groceries for their families,” said Kenji Harada, President and CEO of MMSCAN, in a statement.
The company said a record number of participating Mitsubishi dealerships will be hosting food drives and fundraising events — in addition to other donations meant to support the dealer’s local food banks. “I’m grateful that nearly every one of our dealerships have joined this fantastic initiative this year,” said Harada.
The campaign runs until Sept. 30. After that, donations will be sent to local food banks between Oct. 1-10, prior to the Thanksgiving weekend. For its part, MMSCAN will donate $100,000 to Food Banks Canada, at the national level, to support food insecurity programs in the country.
