Hyundai Auto Canada says it holds the most corporate awards in the automotive sector within the country, thanks to its implementation of feedback and collaboration of executives and team members.
In a news release, the OEM said between Jan. 1, 2019, and May 31, 2024, it received more corporate culture awards than any other automotive brand based on the following Canadian award organizations: Canadian HR Reporter, Great Place to Work, Canada’s Top 100 Employers, Waterstone HC and Canadian HR Awards.
“The best way to serve our diverse customer base is to build an inclusive and positive workplace culture that represents our multicultural Canadian market,” said Don Romano, President and CEO of Hyundai Auto Canada, in a statement. “It’s also simply the right thing to do.”
The OEM has worked for years to create an inclusive and supportive work environment for its team members, which in turn helps attract a wider talent pool to the auto industry. The company said its human resources and administration teams lead with a people-first approach, and that they consider and always look out for feedback from team members.
Romano said he was proud of the dedication of the company’s human resources and administration team members. “They have implemented our brand ethos of ‘Progress for Humanity’ across every aspect within the organization, and in turn, have helped create a strong and sustainable culture that is resilient in the face of change.”
Their human resources team has been working on developing a pipeline for women leaders in automotive. Over the years, Hyundai Canada said they have “successfully closed the gender gap in automotive with 39 per cent of team members self-identify as women, and 50 per cent of National Managers identify as female.”
They also said 65 per cent of its mid-level management self-identifies as diverse.
