Dodge now has a fully electric muscle car

For dealers still on the fence about the electric vehicle shift, or just how wide the ripple effect may be, it is worth considering that Dodge has invested in and now has a fully electric muscle car — and has announced a new Dodge Charger multi-energy lineup.

“The next generation of Dodge muscle has arrived,” said Tim Kuniskis, Dodge brand chief executive officer, Stellantis, in a statement.

In a news release, Stellantis said the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona can deliver up to 670 horsepower. The Daytona Scat Pack and Daytona R/T is said to represent the first all-electric vehicles from the Dodge brand, a move that highlights the need for OEMs to reach all types of consumers with at least one EV option.

The brand’s announcement of the fully-electric Charger Daytona models, among other offerings, aligns with Stellantis’ Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan. The company sees electrified and more efficient propulsion systems as helping Stellantis to cut its global carbon footprint by 50 per cent by 2030, “and lead the transportation industry by achieving net carbon zero by 2038.”

The new Dodge Charger will be built at the Windsor Assembly Plant in Ontario.
