The all-electric Toyota bZ4X production model made its North American debut on November 17, representing the first of a series of battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) to be introduced under the OEM’s global “Toyota bZ” umbrella.
The SUV is expected to have a manufacturer-estimated range of up to 400 kilometres for the XLE front-wheel drive models, offer a new all-wheel drive package, and further the OEM’s commitment to carbon neutrality. It will arrive in Canadian dealerships in mid-2022.
“The bZ4x introduces yet another option for Canadian drivers looking to enjoy the benefits of electrification—including advanced performance and lower, or in this case, zero emissions,” said Cyril Dimitris, Vice President of Toyota Canada. “With production underway on the bZ4x, we’re excited that we will soon be adding a pure battery-electric vehicle to our Canadian Dealer showrooms.”
Dimitris said the new SUV is part of Toyota’s range of electrified and fuel cell models, meant to offer Canadian drivers a range of options that help both the OEM and industry move towards a carbon-neutral future.
Toyota plans to expand to around 70 electrified models globally by 2025, and aims to include 15 dedicated BEVs in its future lineup.
