The Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup is back this year in Canada in a slightly different capacity than pre-pandemic, with minor hockey teams pitching their ideas of a good deed rather than going out in the community to perform them.
The ideas, known as The Chevrolet Good Deeds Pitch, are meant to create a positive impact on the community. Each team must create a 30-second pitch video, in which they must describe where they are from and their ideas for helping their community rise up.
“We are confident that while teams won’t be together this season, it won’t deter them from ideating, even if remotely, to identify community needs and bring awareness to the impact they can make through our program,” said Laura Pacey, Brand Director for Chevrolet Canada.
She adds that The Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup is one of the most “meaningful ways our brand connects with hockey families across Canada.”
The teams must share their pitch videos on Twitter by Jan. 28, 2021 and include the #GoodDeedsCup hashtag, while also tagging @ChevroletCanada if they want a chance to win the grand prize donation of $100,000 for the charity of their choice.
“The winning team will also have their names engraved on the Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup, as large as the Stanley Cup, to commemorate the contribution made to their community for generations to come!” said Chevrolet Canada in its news release.
This year Chevrolet Canada also increased the number of teams eligible to enter, and plans to donate $50 for every Good Deeds Pitch submitted (up to $75,000) to the Hockey Canada Foundation’s Assist Fund, which helps families with registration fees and equipment.
